For the past few days I've been feeling very depressed because my two best friends haven't been hanging out with me as much as they used to and I feel like I don't have anyone that cares about me not even my mum, yesterday I was so sad I literally cried myself to sleep, I don't know what to do.....


It sounds like it’s been really tough for you at the moment and understandable that you’re feeling sad. It also sounds like you know what you’d like most - someone to talk to. That seems like a really great idea to me.

I’m not sure whether your best friends have been busy, or whether there is something else happening. You would be the best judge of whether talking to them directly is possible and might help.

I’ve suggested some options below that you might like to try.

  • You can talk to Kids Helpline via their web chat or on the phone by visiting or calling 1800 551 800. They have counsellors who will be very happy to chat with you 24 hours a day.
  • If you have a teacher or wellbeing coordinator at your school who you would feel comfortable speaking with, they can be really helpful.
  • headspace is a fantastic service to talk to about getting help with feeling depressed. If you keep feeling depressed for more than a week or two I would definitely get in touch with them. Getting help with depression early means it can go away quicker. Visit or 1800 650 890.
