When my friends began to drink I didn’t want to. One night my friends older brother bought us some beer. My friends kept saying ‘just have a drink mate, don’t be a wimp!” I wanted to be cool so I had a drink and it was fun.
We started drinking more often and we all wanted to get “wasted”. One night we went to a party and my friend tried to talk to this girl. She wasn’t keen and my friend got drunk. And then he got violent and started yelling and screaming, throwing bottles, calling everyone harsh names. It was embarrassing, but I didn’t know what to do. It ruined the party, my friend got kicked out, vomited and passed out. People looked at us as if we were responsible for him and didn’t help.
At school everyone whispered behind my friend’s back, avoiding him. He was embarrassed, and sad.
We still drink on the weekends but now we know our limits and ALWAYS watch out for our mates. You don’t need alcohol to have fun, you just need fun to have fun.
