Q

Does Australia have support programmes for teen parents?

A

Australia does have support programmes for teen parents!

Two good websites to find lists of supports for different areas of Australia are:

  • Young Pregnant and Parenting Network supports pregnant and parenting young people to make the right choices and create the best outcomes for themselves and their children. In the “Services and Support” tab at the top, you can select Australia-wide and state-specific programmes depending on your location.
  • Brave Foundation gives expecting and parenting teens with resources, referral and education opportunities.

Maternal and child health nurses, or a General Practitioner (GP) can also be very helpful in linking you or anyone else in with support programmes in your area.
